WOW!!!!!! C’mon people…..am I the only one that was shocked by the use of such poor grammar being utilized for a children’s book?????? Especially for the TITLE!!! I saw him on Fox & Friends promoting this book & unless the book pokes fun at grammar or the English language it should NOT be so highly promoted. Am I really being to harsh??? I’m a very laid-back mother of a 5 year old. I don’t make a habit of “correcting” my son’s choice of words….instead, I just repeat back to him what he has said to me, but with the proper word choice. I thought the book could have been entitled ” I have 2 dogs” or even “I’ve got 2 dogs”….am I being to critical? or shouldn’t we be teaching our children proper English?

This is a great book and song. Our 11 month old squeals with delight when we turn on Fanny & Blue. I totally recommend it for any age child.

This may be the greatest gift I have given my five year old – she LOVES the CD and will listen to it over and over until we make her shut it off. John Lithgow rocks, he does a GREAT job narrating the story, perfect for little kids! I’m not sure we have actually even read the book all the way through; the CD is really the shining star here. Cute story, I will definatly check out anything else by John Lithgow, this purchase was worth every penny!

The grandchildren and the adults who love them have enjoyed this music so much that the order has been repeated several times so it can be given to dog loving grownups. If you play the music more than once, don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing it over and over and over. You’ve been warned!!

We first learned of this book, and John Lithgow as an author, as part of the 2009 America’s Biggest Bedtime Story [...] a special awareness project in conjunction with the BookIT! program which promotes literacy and reading in gradeschoolers. If you have a chance to watch the webcast, the video of John Lithgow ’singing’ this book is delightful – and very funny. My children and I watched it over and over. The book comes with a CD, which we love to listen to in the car. This is a wonderful, touching little book by a truly funny author.
