Maybe it’s okay for adults with a 4-8 year old mentality, but not for children.
Having just spent a lot of time at a focus group in which mother’s discussed what to use in a child’s mouth when he or she uses an obscenity, (soap seems to be the flavor of the month), to find a book with an obscenity in the title makes me cringe. How does one teach a child that certain words should not be used when the publishing industry not only uses them but sticks them in the title.
William Kotzwinkle, you should be ashamed of yourself. Or are you and your publisher that desperate for money?
I believe this book should be moved to the adult section/humor where it would be more appropriate.

This book is a nightmare. Funny? No, please have adults sunk to this level and do they intend to teach children that this type of thing is acceptable? Oh, it’s just awful.

Unbelievable! SHAME to the publisher for actually marketing such a book! SHAME to the author who penned it! SHAME to the illustrator who drew it! And most of all, SHAME to the PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS etc. . . who actually purchased it! A waste of good timber!

…then by all means, buy and read them this book. No wonder there are so many impolite children these days! They’re growing up watching trash like the recent “Cat In The Hat” and reading books like this. Yes, it’s true that kids find farts funny, but I don’t see why we should encourage rudeness and inconsideration unstead of teaching children control and respect for others. When your kid farts at the table, do you laugh and say “aw, how cute”, or do you have him/her apologize? Seems to me like all the people who love this book probably do the former. I’ll stick with the latter. This book is crude, obnoxious, ridiculous (I’m not talking about the farting part… the plot is completely ludicrous!) and in very bad taste. There are so many good children’s books out there than it makes no sense to touch this one with a ten-foot pole.

I can’t imagine why any teacher (or parent) would buy this title for their children. I don’t think that the subject is appropriate. The illustrations and text are crude.
