Both my dogs love this product, but until the source changes from China I would recommend giving it a miss. Our precious pets deserve the best, and this is packaged and marketed like it is, but Chinese food products, and pet products in particular are potentially very dangerous.

I threw out a half a bag when I read where it came from.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware, Made in CHINA — Dogs are dying from Chinese Chicken Jerky, December 12, 2008

By Stefanie Holiman “Stefanie” (California) – See all my reviews

    (REAL NAME)

These are made in China. They are probably a great treat but many dogs have recently died from chicken jerky (check the news or google) and the company that is responsible has not released all the names of the company’s they represent. I would be careful and avoid this treat for now.

Intead: Make your own jerky with a food dehydrator (you can buy it on amazon also)

This is really easy, healthier for your dog and and costs less. You can get large bags of frozen, hormone free chicken breasts or tenders from Costco or Sams club. Even better, get organic meats (a bit more expensive).

If you partially thaw them out they are really easy to slice and make chicken jerky. Same for beef, lamb, etc. You can even use ground meats.

You can even add your own flavor (like mint and chlorophyll for breath help)

    Have fun!

I have ordered this product before but I guess I cant be so lucky all the time. I got 6 bags of it and each of it as I have open, had an old product. All garbage. My dog didn’t want to eat it.It was so dry so you could cut your self with it,very dark, no smell of chicken at all.

I know this product very well coz for 6 yrs I was geting it from the local store. I want to save save money this time. First order fantastic ,second? you know.

So what can I do?You tell me. should I take a risk with another order or find someone else?I will think hard. But thanks any way .

My in-laws’ Pomeranian loves these treats, very posessive of it. He knows what cabinet they’re stored in and gets really exited when someone’s near by that cabinet hoping he’ll get some :-) then when he finally gets a piece, he takes it and runs away to his hiding corner and if you try to take it away from him he gets all macho and “growls” at you :-)

My 18-month Lab/Hound Mix is sometimes so stubborn and even detached, she often refuses to come when she’s called. But when I take a chicken piece out from the package, she suddenly changes personality to be the most obedient, loving dog on earth. The best bribery item EVER!
